John Krasinski Named Sexiest Man Alive in 2024

It’s finally official: John Krasinski is People’s Magazine Sexiest Man Alive for 2024. The yearly and widely coveted was made public last night during The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, followed by an ‘80s-themed infomercial titled “6 Simple Steps to Sexiness,” featuring a cameo from 2022’s Sexiest Man, Chris Evans.

The 45-year-old who succeeds Patrick Dempsey as the title holder, admitted he was initially unsure how to react to the news. ‘Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” he told the magazine in this week’s cover story.

“Other than maybe I’m being punked. That’s not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day that I’ll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guy have really raised the bar for me.”

The actor-writer-director has starred in the US version of The Office before leading the action series Jack Ryan. He also starred in films like Detroit and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, and has done a couple of voice roles for children’s animation films, and also co-wrote, directed and starred in A Quiet Place, which has grown into a three-film franchise.

Earlier this year, John Krasinski debuted his sixth directorial effort, IF, a film about imaginary friends that featured his wife and fellow performer Emily Blunt.

Despite having a number of accolades under his belt, John Krasinski tells People that he enjoys simply being a husband and father, indulging in Netflix documentaries, and cherishing bedtime story sessions with his children, Hazel (10) and Violet (8).

John Krasinski revealed that when he shared the news to his wife of 14 years, actor Emily Blunt, it was a moment filled with joy. She even joked that if he received the crown, she would wallpaper their house with the magazine cover.

Regarding to whether this title will change anything, the actor joked that it’s probably going to make him do more household chores, and added: “After this comes out, she’ll be like, ‘All right, that means you’re going to really earn it here at home.” He is currently living in Brooklyn with his wife and their daughters.

Other Sexiest Man Alive recipients include Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, Paul Rudd, Bradd Pitt. Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson, who was the magazine’s first recipient in 1985. The People edition with Krasinski’s cover story will be out Friday 15 November.
