All eyes were on London Monday night, as the great and the good of the fashion world descended on the Royal Albert Hall for the Fashion Awards 2024, presented by Pandora. Top designers, models, actors, journalists and other industry players lined up for the red carpet, all of whom dressed to the nines for the breathtaking occasion.
Rihanna made her grand entrance in Christian Lacroix AW02 couture, Alexa Chung wore Miu Miu, Lila Moss stunned in archival McQueen and Nicola Coughlan wore a princess-worthy gown by Gaurav Gupta.
The British Fashion Council’s Fashion Awards, hosted by television presenter Maya Jama and artist Kojey Radical was one of its kind with top celebrities going home with highly coveted awards. Jonathan Anderson, creative director of LVMH-owned Loewe and founder of namesake label JW Anderson, won designer of the year for the second year running.
Simone Rocha won the British womenswear award with Grace Wales Bonner taking home the British menswear award. Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena scored the BFC Foundation Award, given annually to a top young designer who partook in the BFC’s New Gen talent scheme, for their joint label Chopova Lowena.
The awards which act as the annual fundraising event for the BFC Foundation celebrated 16 awards with home talents receiving accolades alongside Tom Ford, Remo Ruffini, and American Barbadian rapper A$AP Rocky.
Photographer Tyler Mitchell won the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, while Alex Consani was awarded model of the year. A$AP Rocky, who noted the increasingly blurred lined between fashion and other cultural verticals won the Cultural Innovator Award.
There were also awards for Priya Ahluwalia for Ahluwalia who received the New Establishment Menswear Award and Marco Capaldo for 16Arlington won the New Establishment Womenswear Award. Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou also picked up a Special Recognition award for her work on 10 magazine.
The eagerly anticipate event among fashion enthusiasts worldwide kicked off in style with Chloe and Halle Bailey delivering an exclusive performance of the Bee Gees “To Love Somebody” while clad in bespoke Dilara Findikoglu, with Law Roach reflecting on the major fashion moments from the year.
Singer Debbie Harry also took the stage by storm with a surprise performance of “Heart of Glass” and “I Feel Love”” in honor of Gucci and Nan Goldin’s Special Recognition Award for the ‘We Will Always Have London’ campaign.
