It is widely known that Queen Camilla isn’t going through her best moment of health, something that has made her the focus of the media, who are constantly trying to find out how she’s doing. And the latest news didn’t catch most royal fans by surprise after she failed to attend Royal Variety performance.
While the queen consort, 77, has been pretty busy this week-she hosted a reception in an eye-popping headpiece, she posted a sweet tribute to her late dog and she received a major honor from her sister-in-law, Princess Anne- it seems she needs to get a little R&R; doctors orders.
In a statement before the event, it is said Queen Camilla “continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms” and doctors had advised her to rest. “With great regret, she has therefore withdrawn from attendance at tonight’s Royal Variety performance. His Majesty will attend as planned” the Palace said.
This is the latest event Queen Camilla is bound to miss due to illness, having also had to skip Remembrance event. She failed to attend the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance nor the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph, instead marking the occasion ‘privately at home.’
As per statement from the palace, “Following a recent chest infection, the Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritize sufficient rest.”
While it is quite rare to have a health update, this specific one probably does sound familiar as it is the same condition Queen Camilla was battling earlier this month after dropping out of Remembrance Day appearances.
According to information close to the Queen’s entourage, she is “naturally disappointed to miss the evening’s entertainment and sends her sincere apologies to all involved, but firmly believes that ‘the show must go on.’ She hopes to be back to full fitness and her usual public duties very soon.
The rest of the royal family, including Princess Catherine, Prince William, and Prince Anne, have been going about their duties during the Queen’s recovery period. The Queen will rest overnight in London, until tomorrow, when she will travel to Sandringham, the chosen place to complete here recovery and resume her official schedule. For now we await more news on the Queen’s state of health in recovery.
