Martine Lawrence to Pay for Daughter’s Wedding to Eddie Murphy’s Son

Martine Lawrence revealed that he ‘doesn’t mind’ paying for his daughter’s wedding to Eddie Murphy’s son. Lawrence, who’s currently on a comedy tour, stopped by Big Boy TV a couple of days after his eldest daughter Jasmin, 28, got engaged to Murphy’s eldest son Eric, 35.

The couple is clearly a match made in comedy between heaven due to their hilarious fathers, but Lawrence shared on Big Boy TV that Murphy doesn’t plan on footing the wedding bill. “Well, Eddie said I gotta pay for it. He said I gotta pay for it cause he paid for this last daughter’s wedding, like the last six weddings. He said it’s my turn now,” Martin explained, humorously accepting the responsibility.

Eddie Murphy, who is a father of 10 from various relationships, including daughters Izzy and Max with current wife Paige Butcher, has already paid for the wedding of his other kids, such as Bria, Shayne, and Zola. Meanwhile, Martin has three daughters, including Jasmin who is currently engaged to Eddie’s son, Eric.

Even though Big Boy joked that the previous weddings had no bearing on Martin’s situation, Martin said he didn’t mind covering the cost. Jasmine Lawrence and Eric Murphy went public with their relationship in 2021 when Jasmin took to her Instagram to wish Eric a happy birthday, writing, “Happy birthday, my love! I’m so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side. Cheers to many more blessings, laughs, and beautiful memories! I love you so much!!”

Around the couple’s second anniversary, Martin Lawrence appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!During the live show, he joked that he’ll “try to get Eddie to pay for (the wedding),” But on Etalk, Murphy warned Lawrence to not “switch it up.” “Don’t try to change no shit, do no Hollywood switch,” he said. “You’re paying for the wedding. If it goes down, Martin’s paying. And the wedding better be wonderful.

One thing the two actor-comedians can agree on is co-writing a Blue Streak remake, which Lawrence confirmed on The Jennifer Hudson Show and Big Boy TV. Lawrence and Murphy previously starred in 1999 bubby-comedy film Life and the 1992 romantic comedy Boomerang.

The couple is yet to set a wedding date yet. Eddie’s son popped the question to Martin’s daughter on Nov. 27 in a room filled with candles and roses.
