Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande have decided to cut ties with manager Scooter Braun. The singers are currently seeking new management, according to a report by Billboard.
The two reportedly split after months of tension, with a source telling the publication that “there are some differences in personalities.” The source claims Grande felt “uncomfortable” during her time with Braun and his SB Projects company. The singer’s reps have yet to comment on the reports.
According to the report, Braun is working on other big clients for his company, including Puerto Rican superstar Ozuna and fast-rising rapper Kalii. The music mogul also recently took on a more significant role as the United States chief executive at Hybe, one of the biggest South Korean entertainment companies.
In the past, Braun has represented several high-profile music stars, including Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. Both have a lengthy list of hit singles and albums. He also has an impressive slew of business interests, from music to real estate to even the NBA.
Braun has had a rocky relationship with some of his big-name clients. He was in a legal battle with Taylor Swift for a while over her master recordings. He reportedly feuded with Drake over his alleged influence on Rihanna’s 2016 album Anti.
Despite his controversial history, Braun remains one of the top managers in the industry. He’s worked with a long roster of talent, including the likes of David Guetta, Black Eyed Peas, Quavo, and Carly Rae Jepsen.
Lovato, meanwhile, has been associated with Braun and his SB Projects company since 2019. Phil McIntyre of PhilyMack previously managed her before signing with Braun’s firm. The singer is amidst a rerecording project, reworking a few of her most popular songs as rock tracks. She’s also set to release a new album this September, which is reportedly called Demi Lovato Revamped.
While both Lovato and Grande have reportedly parted ways with Braun, the two are still connected as business partners. Neither has said anything publicly about the rumors, but Braun did shout out Lovato in an Instagram post this week for her 31st birthday.
Braun and the two singers have a solid professional bond despite their differences. Braun’s relationship with Grande dates back to her Nickelodeon career, and she’s been a member of his roster ever since. They’ve released six albums together, with five hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
