Gabriella Hearst Launches Its First Sustainably Made Sneaker

Luxury fashion brand Gabriela Hearst has launched its first sustainably crafted sneaker, featuring materials that have a lower impact on the environment. The Ohio, which made its debut on the catwalk during Gabriela Hearst’s Spring/summer 2025 show, has been designed to showcase the brand’s foundations in quality and craftmanship while lowering its environmental impact.

Made in Italy, the Ohio sneaker comes with rubber soles composed of 30% recycled materials, while its stitches are made of 30% recycled polyester certified by the Global Recycled Standard. The leather laces add a signature texture to the slip-on style with its interior elastic ribbon made entirely of recycled polyester and natural rubber.

Gabriela Hearst also decided to source 100% lather from a Tannery Certified by Leather working group for its upper, laces, and lining. One of the most standout design features of the Ohio is the leather laces, which the brand states add a ‘signature textural detail to the slip-on style’ together with the interior elastic ribbon made entirely of recycled polyester and natural rubber.

You can find the Ohio sneakers in different colors. Actually, it is available in White, White with a multicolor stitch detail, Sand and Light Blue Denim in its first iterations, and additionally in more colorful versions in Dark Chocolate, Cobalt, Olie, Antelope, Orange, and Golden Birch Nabuk lather.

Gabriela Hearst launched her first designer womenswear collection for Fall/Winter with two main values – Long Term and Sustainability. A brand that reflects a slower pace and process: where tradition influences more than trend, where there is a purpose to every piece, where it’s all in the details. “I wanted to create a brand that had that feeling of things that are well made and long lasting.”

In 2016, the brand introduced Handbags. In the interest of maintaining her values of sustainability, she decided to produce the bags in limited quantities and available only through direct-to-consumer channels.
