Critics Condemn Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s New Website

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched a new website on Monday. The site has the latest news about the couple and bios for Harry and Meghan. It also includes links to the Archewell Foundation organization and the company’s Archewell Productions hub. The site called Archwell will now be referred to as sussex.com. The move is part of a rebranding effort by the royals to reposition themselves as serious people who occupy a significant role in public life. The relaunch comes after a topsy-turvy 2023 for the pair, including Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare and their smeared by comedy shows like South Park and Family Guy.

Visitors to their new website are greeted by a photo of the smiling royals. The page also features a link to their new US-based podcast, Unpolished. In a separate section, the couple urges viewers to donate to vaccine equity in countries worldwide. This seems to be part of a strategy by the royals to boost their public profile in the wake of controversies over their foundation and personal lives.

In a possible attempt to avoid any future row with the Royal Family, the website does not include their official royal titles or use of the monarchy’s crest. The Duchess’s biography, for example, highlights her advocacy work and prominent role in the TV series Suits rather than her place as fifth in line to the throne.

The pair plan to issue more frequent updates about their charitable and business endeavors using the new site. They are set to travel to Canada later this week for the Vancouver Whistler 2025 One Year to Go event. They will likely discuss their experiences in the country, where they spent much of last year as they stepped back from senior royal duties.

The site’s launch is a sign that the royals are trying to get their lives together after a rocky start to the year. Since then, the couple’s first significant public engagement was attending a California sports competition. It was just days after the royals flew to London without their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to visit King Charles following his cancer diagnosis.

The site is being launched before the couple’s return to royal duties this month as they head to Vancouver for the Invictus Games closing ceremony. They are expected to deliver speeches on the occasion and tell crowds about how unique the country was for them during their time away from royal duties. They will also host an event to celebrate the achievements of the athletes. The duo will spend the remainder of the year in the US, where they are scheduled to launch their new podcast and attend events for their foundation. They are also working on a film adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Meet Me at the Lake.
