BAFTA Memorable Moment Prize Nominees Revealed

The nominees for this year’s Memorable Moment Award at the BAFTA Television Awards 2025 have been made public by sponsor P&O Cruises- with key moments from Gavin & Stacey and The Traitors those to feature.

They are two of the six small-screen highlights to have been nominated for the ‘memorable moment’ prize at this year’s BAFTA TV Awards. The others are Naked Tennis in Jilly Cooper’s Rivals; and a subpostmistress getting a shock about her predicament in Mr. Bates vs The Post Office.

Also up for the prize is McCausland’s performance  to You’ll Never Walk Alone on Strictly Come Dancing and Bridgerton when Colin (Luke Newton) admits his true feelings for Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) while in the carriage.

This award is the only one of the BAFTAs to be decided by the public, and there are a total of six shortlisted moments from 2024 for TV fans to choose from across a number of programmes and genres.

Voting will open at 8 am on Wednesday 12th March and will close at 11:59pm on Friday 25th April., with members of the public able to vote online via http://www.bafta.org/moment. The winner of this category will be announced at the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises on Sunday 11th May 2025 on BBC One and iPlayer.

Hillary Rosen, chair of BAFTA’s television committee, said: “The list includes heart-warming and heart-stopping surprises that got us all talking, and speaks to the power of great television to have real and lasting impact.”

“I’m intrigued to see which of these six moments will resonate with the public the most, and the conversations they will continue to inspire.”

Speaking about this year’s list, Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Raul Ludlow said: “2024 was an outstanding year for television. The shortlist has memorable moments which made the viewer laugh, cry, grasp, as well as including characters we have grown to love.”

“Television has the power to educate, to illuminate and to create powerful conversation- and this list includes all of those. I very much look forward to May when we can honor and celebrate the winners and all those nominated.”

Some of the nominees in this category may feel old to voters, because the eligibility period spans the 2024 calendar year. Both The Traitors and Mr. Bates vs The Post Office were broadcast last January, 14 months ago. Since then, a subsequent series of The Traitors has been broadcast.
